Preventive Care
Good Oral Health Starts With Prevention
Preventive dental care starts at home and is important throughout your life, no matter your age. By practicing good oral hygiene at home and scheduling regular checkups with your dentist, you can help keep your smile bright and healthy for many years to come. Preventive dental care includes daily brushing with fluoride toothpaste, flossing, a healthy diet, and regular oral exams and professional cleanings.
Visiting the dentist every six months gives you the chance to talk with your dentist and receive answers to any questions you may have about your oral health. Checkups are also a great way for you to find out about new treatments that may benefit your smile.
Problems in your mouth can affect the rest of your body. Oral health, particularly gum disease has been linked to several chronic diseases, including diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Plus, poor oral health in pregnant women has also been associated with premature births and low birth weight. Your oral health can impact your general health making preventive care extremely important.
